College Grove is an unincorporated community near Franklin and Murfreesboro in Williamson County, Tennessee. College Grove was one of Williamson County's early communities. The former Bank of College Grove is a National Register of Historic Places-listed building now houses a successor national banking institution. The College Grove Methodist Church is NRHP-listed and is described in the Williamson MRA.:31Places listed on the National Register in or near College Grove are: William Allison House, U.S. Route 31A, 2 miles south of CollegeGrove Elementary School, and Urban Owen House, 1 mile south of the elementary school. Bostick Female Academy is listed in the NRIS database as being in College Grove. The community is predominantly rural, with a population of about 2,000. It was home to the Webb Guards company of the Tennessee infantry during the American Civil War, which was raised from the towns of Triune, College Grove, Peytonsville and Bethesda. In the 1880s College Grove had "100 residents, with three cotton gins, two corn and saw mills, two general stores, and a wagon maker." It is located near Franklin, Tennessee, on the Tennessee-Arkansas state line, near the junction of I-40 and I-65. It is also near Murfreeboro, which is on the Alabama-Tennessee state line. The town has a post office that opened in 1799. It has a high school that was built in the 1800s.
History
Williamson County was founded in 1799. College Grove was one of its early communities. The Webb Guards company of the Tennessee infantry was raised from the towns of Triune, College Grove, Peytonsville and Bethesda. The company was then organized as Company D of the 20th Tennessee Volunteer Infantry. The 2017 Census estimate has been 2,700 people, and it says the number will rise to 3,500 by the end of the year. The 2018 Census estimate suggests the town will have 3,200 residents.

Meredith Poindexter Gentry - Member of the Federal Congress at the beginning of the American Civil War and afterwards became a member of the Confederate Congress.Keith Bilbrey - Television and Radio personality, noted for his time as announcer for Grand Ole Opry. The town was home to the Grand OleOpry, a country music venue. It was also the site of the Battle of the Bulge, which took place in 1864. The city was also home to a stagecoach company, which was based in the town for much of the 20th century. It is also the location of the National Civil War Museum, which dates back to the time of the Civil War. The community is also known for its antebellum homes, which were built in the 19th and early 20th centuries. It has been home to many notable people, including the Gentry family, who served in the Federal and Confederate Congresses. It also has been the home of the Opry, which began its history in the late 19th century and continues to this day. The village was also known as the birthplace of country music, with many of its members being members of the Ole Miss Country Music Association. It had a population of around 2,000 people at its peak in the early 1900s, when it was still part of the Great Depression. It later became a center of the country music scene, and was the home to several radio stations, such as the Wrecking Machine, which started in the 1930s.
