Bellevue (French for "beautiful view"; previously named Belleview) is a suburban city in Sarpy County, Nebraska, United States. It is part of the Omaha-Council Bluffs metropolitan area, and had a population of 64,176 as of the 2020 Census. Bellevue is the third-largest city in Nebraska, behind Omaha and Lincoln, and the second largest city in the U.S. named Bellevue, Washington. It has been credited by the Nebraska State Legislature as being the state's second-oldest settlement; previously it served as the seat of government in Nebraska. In 1921, the Offutt Air Force Base, housing the United States Strategic Command, was built south of Bellevue. The planes that dropped the Hiroshima and Nagasaki atomic bombs were built there. The city was originally founded as a trading post for the Missouri Fur Company by Joshua Pilcher, but there were financial problems, and, eventually, Lucien Fontanelle became the owner of the post. In 1855, Bellevue was incorporated in 1855 and is the oldest continuous town in Nebraska; it is bounded on the east by the Missouri River. At the 2010 census, there were 50,137 people, 19,142 households, and 13,371 families living in the city. History

Bellevue was originally founded as a trading post for the Missouri Fur Company by Joshua Pilcher. In 1921, the Offutt Air Force Base, housing the United States Strategic Command, was built south of Bellevue. The planes that dropped the Hiroshima and Nagasaki atomic bombs were built there. Moses Merrill founded a mission, which was the first Christian mission in Nebraska, in Bellevue, in the early 1800s. Bellevue was the oldest city in the Nebraska Territory, and the residents were optimistic that Bellevue would become the capital of it. The new territorial governor, Francis Burt, had already moved there, but shortly after, he died. The next governor selected Omaha as the capital instead. The first permanent resident was Lucien Fontanelle, who was the owner of the post and the first person to live there for more than a few years. The city is located in the U.S. state of Nebraska, and was once part of the Missouri Territory. It is currently the state's second largest city, after Omaha, with a population of 2.3 million. It was the site of the first American settlement in the 19th century, when it was founded by the Missouri fur company, and later became the home of the Nebraska Fur Company. The Bellevue area was once known as the "Fur Capital of the World" and was home to a number of fur trading companies, including the St. Louis Fur Company and the St Louis Trading Company. In the early 1900s, Bellevue became the location of a Christian mission, the first in the state.

Bellevue is home to the Bellevue High School football team, which won the state championship in 2010. BellevUE is also home to a number of high school football teams, including Bellevue-Omaha High and Omaha-Papillion High. The Bellevue School District won the district's championship in 2008. The school district also won the 2010 state title in the boys' band division. The district's girls' team won the title in 2010 in the girls' band category. The girls' school district won the championship in the women's band division in 2008 in the middle school and high school levels. The boys' high school team won their state championship the following year in the high school band. The team's win came in the field of girls' sports. The high school girls' soccer team finished the season with a record of 3 wins and one loss. The teams' win streak began in the fall of 2007. It ended in the spring of 2008, when Bellevue's boys' team finished with a win in the state's championship game against Omaha-Maha High School. The winning team also won a state title the year before in the men's soccer championship. The state title came in 2009, when the district won its second consecutive state title. It was the first time Bellevue had won back-to-back state titles since the 1980s.
